Age Declassified

There is something to be said about being born on the wrong side of the nineties. Take, for instance, Emily Bett Rickards. She was not born in 1991. A Reddit thread from six years back had a commenter refer to her as being born in 1988, which puts things into perspective considering who she played in Arrow from 2012 to 2020. Marama Corlett or her publicist are trying to lie about her age. She was not born on May 3 in 1991, but rather…1985.

Lately, I have proven that Kristen Stewart was not born in 1990. I remember reading magazines when Panic Room came out in 2002. I was 15 years old, and my first impression of the woman known as K-Stew was: “Oh, hey, cool, she’s the same age as me.”

The coolness being that my ambition at the time was to be an actor, although there is something to be said about resonating with any celebrity (or any person for that matter) once you find out that they are the same age as you. Many years later, I was disillusioned to learn that she was supposedly three years younger. Well, now, I’ve found evidence in the form of the latest issue of Grazia UK (November 15) where it’s mentioned that she has been acting since the age of 12. That was the same age that I was in 1999 - the same year that marked her first screen credit: The Thirteenth Year.

She began filming Panic Room in January 2001. Her birthday is in April, so there was no way that she was 10 going on 11 making that movie. Although her character is supposed to be 10, director David Fincher said that he wanted a character who was “…a teenager at ten years old.”

I was born in 1987. Ironically, Kristen once co-starred in a 2009 film that took place in 1987 i.e. Adventureland.
